However, many commenters opposed removing nutrition services from the types of early intervention services identified and requested that nutrition services be specifically included as one of the types of early intervention services identified in the final regulations.
Numerous commenters also opposed the removal of nursing services from the definition of early intervention services and requested that these services be specifically included in that definition in the final regulations. Other commenters stated that although they recognized that the Act did not include a specific reference to nursing services, these services could nonetheless be provided,
where appropriate, pursuant to §303.13(d), which recognizes
that services other than those listed in the definition may constitute early intervention services under certain circumstances.
Additionally, many commenters requested that music therapy be included in the definition of early intervention services.
Other commenters requested that respite care be specifically included in the definition of early
intervention services. One commenter requested that we
include parent-to-parent support as a type of early
intervention service because of its value and importance.
